Build resilience and coping strategies

Losses, social isolation, family tensions, work fatigue, health issues, and uncertainty have created an imbalance in our lives, consequently decreasing our overall wellness. From depression, anxiety, and poor attention to unhealthy relationships with substances and ourselves, we are all striving to grow the life we desire.

Whether you have previously done therapy or this is a new experience, feeling apprehensive is expected, and relationships are essential. I strive to make our appointments feel more like a conversation that ends with a path forward, including goals and next steps

When building skills, tools, and resources to help you live the life you want now and in the future, I use several integrative methods and, over the years, have been influenced by a holistic perspective. I feel the only way towards growth is through a collaborative model.

Approaches I draw from are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Solution-Focused Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Art Therapy, and Mindfulness. I also strive to create opportunities to work between sessions and expand on our discussion.

Let’s work together

Profile photo of Christa Faulkner, LPCC

Hi, I’m Christa Faulkner, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor providing virtual therapy for individuals located in Kentucky. I have worked in trauma-informed care with non-profits since 2004 and started private practice in 2022.

Alongside working as a professional counselor, I have also freelanced in art and design and worked in environmental and social advocacy. I draw from lived experiences as much as my training and professional experience. I feel that mental health is not fixed, and we should change the narrative from ‘What’s wrong with me’ to ‘What happened to me.’ We all have the opportunity to live our best life.

Grow Therapy Clients

Relationship with Grow Therapy
I use the Grow Therapy platform to bill insurance and schedule. Grow Therapy is an online platform that enables independently licensed therapists in private practice to bill insurance networks and receive administrative support. Therapists using the platform are not employees of Grow Therapy; they are self-employed and are compensated through insurance or out-of-pocket payments. Claims billed through Grow Therapy may exceed out-of-pocket costs if you have a high deductible, and I can help you navigate this.

Teletherapy Appointments
Appointments are through a secure video platform. Messaging, text, phone calls, referrals, etc., are not billed, and I am not paid for these services. Please join the video session in a space where you have privacy and are free from distractions. I can’t continue a session if you are operating a moving vehicle, have others in the room, or are using a filter that blocks your background. This is for your safety, privacy, and best practices.

Therapy Commitment
We will discuss your preferred session frequency during our first appointment, which will be documented in the initial therapeutic plan and updated as needed. Please communicate any desire to change this frequency or if you would like to stop or pause therapy. If this is not expressed, and no appointments are made for 30 days, your information will be archived. If you cancel an appointment without providing a reason via direct message to me, it will be assumed that you no longer wish to continue therapy. Please be respectful and communicate what is happening so I know how to document.

Scheduling Appointments
If you need to change the appointment date or time, reschedule rather than cancel. Cancel indicates you don’t wish to continue services. You can make changes up to 24 hours before your appointment without incurring a late fee. Please be aware that frequent rescheduling during the week of the appointment, cancellations, or no-shows can be problematic to many parties and are limited to no more than 3 occurrences within a 6-month period.

Missed and Late Cancel Appointments
If either person is more than 10 minutes late, the appointment is considered missed. The no-show or late cancel fee is $80. I can waive the fee for a missed appointment or late cancellation if it’s an emergency and I’m notified before submitting my note. Grow Therapy doesn’t send providers reasons for canceled or rescheduled appointments. Please message. Missing an intake appointment without an expressed reason will result in being unable to schedule with me in the future.
